Genuine Nova Scotia Oatcake Collector Editions 2014 | |||||||||
In July 2014, we started labeling batches with current events, "Collector Editions", if you like. Each batch of oatcakes is unique in time, no doubt subtly flavoured by the weather, mood and perhaps even what was listened to during its creation. December 2014, saw the introduction of REDS, with dried Cranberries and BLUES with dried Blueberries as a complement to our classic GNSO. Mid-January we produced the world's first COMBO Oatcake with both Blueberries & Cranberries to much critical acclaim. 449250 Oatcakes Retrospective: 2024 | 2023 | 2022 | 2021 | 2020 | 2019 | 2018 | 2017 | 2016 | 2015 | 2014 |

One hand clapping Cranberry and Blueberry REDS & BLUES evoke an association with the choice of red or blue pill Morpheus offers to Neo in the Matrix: which will you choose? With superb berries from Terra Beata on Heckmans Island near Lunenburg, both crannycakes and booberrycakes have become an instant hit! |

A Radically Different World View is Possible: The Gift Economy – Inside and Outside Patriarchal Capitalism An incredibly rich resource from a decade ago (recently posted to YouTube) that formed the basis of the book published by Inanna Women in the Gift Economy. After immersion in John Ralston Saul's refreshing perspective on Canada's First Nations peoples I found Jeanette Armstrong's presentation particularly illuminating. Elisabet Sahtouris's Crisis as Opportunity: The Biology of Globalization is a unique tour de force from every point of view. |

Spiral Dynamics Theory postulates the existance of "Tier 2 memes" in human evolution – which are not fear-based. Wilber and Beck below point to these as possible futures, hence the Oatcake edition 2014-09-10/11 "Tier Two Food". The Bliss & Emptiness Oatcake (when you become one with it) declares that there is no "out there" to be afraid of. Our projections are essentially empty and bliss results when we relax and stop banging our heads against the wall (upon mindful inspection after all there is no you and there is no wall!). One would be hard pressed to find a clearer example of the contrast between Tier 1 memes and Tier 2 memes, than in these Hedges and Eisenstein "Bliss & Emptiness" clips. If you don't have six hours to listen here's the skinny: Hedges highlights the most painful points of what Eisenstein would call "the old story we tell ourselves" and advocates non-violent revolution as the only way forward. Eisenstein looks at the the whole kit and kaboodle from the dawn of time and says the current (dualistic) story is not working very well – so we could better change or update the story to an nondualistic one – this is what is happening in any case – this basic goodness is part and parcel of the universe – just because it is not "scientifically measurable" does not mean the magic in all of us and in everything is not there. Indeed, the more one listens to Charles Eisenstein, the more one gets a real sense of the vast expansiveness and all-inclusiveness of Tier 2 altogether. We may have thought saving the world would be incredibly heroic and complicated, when really all one needs to do is gently change the story we tell ourselves so there is no "other". We are everything and everything is us. |
